Welcome
Welcome to The Evaluator's Toolkit!
Agata Jose-Ivanina is a Senior Research Analyst at ICF International in Calverton, Maryland and Ann Emery is a Learning and Evaluation Specialist at the Latin American Youth Center in Washington, DC.
Although we work in different evaluation settings, we both analyze a lot of data and we both write a lot of reports - everything from really long multi-year evaluation reports on single programs to summaries about focus groups. Sometimes we need to create a series of matching reports, like a short fact sheet for every state, county, or school that we're evaluating.
Copying and pasting numbers back and forth between Excel and Word to create nearly-identical reports is a time-consuming process, and it's really, really easy to make mistakes with so much copying and pasting. We've seen evaluators make a lot of typos during this process, we've seen evaluators paste a chart about one school into the report about a different school, and we've seen evaluators generally, well, go crazy trying to copy and paste thousands of numbers back and forth.
Don't you wish there was a magical solution to this problem??
Agata created a 4-step automation process to help you send your Excel data directly into Word without any copying and pasting. Click on Our Tools to download the materials. Once you try the process yourself, please share your questions and comments on the Feedback page.
Enjoy!
